One of the first imagery that you may have of Maldives is sitting by the beach, watching the sunset and drinking that fine wine. However, this might just not be possible on this little island. Being a Muslim country, alcohol is not allowed on all of the local islands of Maldives. You cannot even buy alcohol here.

Your only reprise is spending time on some lovely islands which have found a loophole in this rule. Like in Maafushi you can drink as much as you want as they have a complimentary boat service. This way you are drinking on water and not on land. There are also some resort islands which will serve you alcohol.

Owing to the Muslim traditions, you must also be aware of clothing restrictions. If you are on a local island, and not on one of those resort islands then make sure you cover yourself up. There are some bikini zones which are marked, and in these zones, you can flaunt your bikini or other swimsuits.

If you are staying at the resort islands then you can do as you please and all these restrictions disappear.
